| Welcome to the wonderful new world of
AiRRUS
Rods.
As you read through this, you may come across some words
unfamiliar to you when it comes to fishing rods and
their construction. These would be, Filament wound, Co-MATRiX
and Multi Modulus. They are not used to create a
mystique nor to dazzle and impress you, but merely to
provide you with terminology which will afford you a
greater understanding of our
NEW ROD line, how
they differ from existing rods and why we believe, and
hope that you will share in this belief, that
AiRRUS rods are the finest dollar for dollar
investment a fisherman can make in his equipment, bar
none. The first thing you will notice when you pick up a
AiRRUS rod is the filament wound section which
exists between the fore grip and the first guide. This
area has the greatest overall influence on the power
characteristics of the rod. By utilizing the filament
winding process in this area, not only have we created
longitudinal strength but also hoop strength, giving a
AiRRUS rod, what may very well be the most
powerful butt section on any rod at any price.
Co-MATRiX, now there's one you can tell your grand
kids about . Are you dazzled yet? I didn't think so. And
you shouldn't be. It's a word whose relationship to our
rods is really quite simple. Co means two or more and
matrix has to do with the combining of the typical sheet
wrap process used in making the tip section ( more on
that later ) and the filament winding process used in
the butt section. Each of these processes creates a
different a matrix and wha la you have Co-MATRiX. The
overall performance of an
AiRRUS rod is dictated in part by the marriage of
these two processes.
Modulus in a rod pertains to the flexibility of the
material being used to make it. The lower the modulus
the greater the flex, higher modulus materials create
stiffness and reduce weight, but are more brittle,
increasing the chance of breakage. Most of the leading
rod manufacturers would like you to believe that
ultimate performance in a rod can be achieved using uni-modulus
construction. At
AiRRUS we believe that in order to achieve
ultimate performance in a rod, a multi- modulus system
must be used in the construction of each and every
blank. Because rod requirements differ based on
application, i.e. cranking, flipping and top water etc.,
AiRRUS may incorporate as many as three different
types of graphite as well as small amounts of glass in
to a single blank. By utilizing and strategically
positioning these different materials in the
construction of our blanks,
AiRRUS is able to fine tune our rods to provide
the ultimate in presentation for any of the many and
varied applications required by both weekender and
professional.
Another one of the outstanding feature of a
AiRRUS rod is our "Comfort Grip". When you pick
up a
AiRRUS rod you will immediately feel the
difference.
AiRRUS has incorporated a portion of the grip
just aft of the reel seat with a high-density foam
material called "Hypalon". Unlike EVA foam, used as
substitute for cork on less expensive rods, hypalon is
firm, tear resistant and provides a wet grip superior to
that of cork. The
AiRRUS "Comfort Grip" provides the ultimate in
comfort without a loss in sensitivity.
At
AiRRUS we build every rod with care, precision
and an attention to detail normally seen in more
expensive rods. As you know rod companies will go on
forever expounding on the virtues of their products
when, in actuality, the true test of a rod is to try it.
I am confident that once you have tried and compared a
AiRRUS rod with other higher priced on the market
that you too will become a believer and make a
AiRRUS rod your rod of choice when making you
next rod purchase.
